Perry Central School student wins River Sweep Poster contest

Brooke Lasher, a seventh grader at Perry Central School, tied for first place in the 19th annual River Sweep Poster Contest sponsored by Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO).

She receives $50.

The River Sweep is an annual riverbank cleanup held each year along the Ohio River and its major tributaries.  The poster contest allows students to express their creativity and brings awareness to the need to keep the Ohio clean.

Amphitheatre to host auditions for Lincoln musical

Auditions for the second season of Lincoln Amphitheatre’s A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale will take place in February.

Lincoln Amphitheatre will host two auditions for its signature piece A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale, a two-act musical about President Lincoln's Indiana boyhood years. It is directed by Ken Jones.

Auditions will be held at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial’s Nancy Hanks Hall, 2916 E South St., Friday, February 15 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. CST and Saturday, February 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST.

Lincoln Amphitheatre releases list of 2013 shows

Lincoln Amphitheatre ‘s 2013 lineup includes the second season of A. Lincoln: A Pioneer Tale along with other theatrical productions, concerts, and a Halloween event.

“We want to continue to serve our guests with a full season of event offerings from April to October,” says Dan Wilkinson, executive director for the 1500-seat, covered Lincoln Amphitheatre.  “Our guests responded very positively to our 2012 season and told us clearly that they enjoyed the quality and variety of our productions."

Celtic Spring Song and Dance

The season will kick off in April with a Celtic-themed concert titled Celtic Spring Song and Dance. It will feature the Louisville-based four-piece Celtic band Guilderoy Byrne along with Kentucky’s Rose of Tralee Annie Wright and the McTeggart Irish Dancers for two performances, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. CDT on April 14.

Shubael Little Pioneer Village Candle Light Tour

Visit Little Pioneer Village, on December 8 for the Candle Light Tour. It will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. There will be music, old-time food, and beverages. Everyone is encouraged to attend this FREE event. The Village is located at  7590 East SR 66, Cannelton, IN 47520. Marching bands all over Indiana competed in the Semi-State competition on Saturday at four different Indianapolis high schools.

Sister Amnesia’s Country Western Nunsense Jamboree in Tell City next month

The Tell City Epsilon Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa Inc. will present its tenth dinner theater production November 9-11,at the Evangelical United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall in Tell City. The production “Sister Amnesia’s Country Western Nunsense Jamboree,” directed by Bob Godthaab, is one in a series of “Nunsense” musicals written by Dan Goggin. Epsilon Omega previously presented “Nunsense,” “Nuncrackers,” and “Nunsense II: The Second Coming.”

St. Meinrad ROCKS! set for Nov. 9, 10

The 2nd annual St. Meinrad ROCKS! Band Jam is set for Friday, Nov 9 and Saturday, Nov. 10.  This year's event will feature five solo acts and eight  bands--13 hours of music at the St. Meinrad Community Center.
