Mystery, comedy to take Lincoln Amphitheatre’s stage Friday

A play that combines both mystery and comedy will take Lincoln Amphitheatre’s stage Friday.

Lincoln Amphitheatre will produce the two-act play (not musical) community production of The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 opening on Friday.

“We are pleased to welcome Kyle Rupert in his directing debut at Lincoln Amphitheatre as well as the new and returning local cast members.  I continue to be amazed by the level of local talent right here in our own back yard.  Kyle has assembled an excellent cast, and I know everyone is working hard to prepare for the production,” says Daniel Wilkinson, executive director for Lincoln Amphitheatre.

Students can win prizes in River Sweep poster contest

Students in primary and secondary schools (public and private, K-12) are invited to design a poster for the 24th annual River Sweep 2013.  The poster contest is open to students living in or attending schools in counties bordering the Ohio River, or counties participating in the River Sweep.

Fifteen prizes will be awarded.  The grand prize is a $500 and the school representing the grand prize winner will also receive an award.  A $500 prize will be presented to the student with the winning design for the official River Sweep t-shirt.  Thirteen $50 prizes will be awarded to one winner at each grade level.

Jeremy Camp to headline “Rock the World” Christian Music Fest

Hoosier native Jeremy Camp will headline Holiday World’s “Rock the World” Christian Music Fest this Saturday. The Grammy-nominated artist will be joined on the main stage by Tenth Avenue North and BarlowGirl. Cincinnati’s Mosteller will open for the main-stage acts, along with Holiday World’s Rejoice Singers, followed by Paducah’s Hearts of Saints.

“Our guests have asked us to host a Christian music festival for years, so we’re making it happen,” says the park’s president, Dan Koch. “Our ‘field of dreams’ to the north of Pilgrims Plunge is being transformed into a Christian rock-concert venue this week.”

Upcoming Lincoln Amphitheatre play combines mystery, comedy

Lincoln Amphitheatre will combine mystery and comedy in a play to take its stage in September. 

They will produce a community production of the two-act play (not musical) The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 opening on September 14.

“The fourth and final theatrical production of our 25th anniversary season should be fun for everyone.  Cooler fall weather combined with some mystery and humor will make this the perfect opportunity to plan a visit to Lincoln Amphitheatre,” says Dan Wilkinson, executive director for Lincoln Amphitheatre.

'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' opens Friday

LINCOLN CITY, IND.---Two southern Indiana theatres partner again in producing a family-friendly Broadway classic. 

Lincoln Amphitheatre and Evansville Civic Theatre partnered in producing the two-act musical play Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with eleven live performances beginning Friday.

German Ridge Heritage Project

German Ridge Heritage Project

Community volunteers are needed to study famly histories, share photographs, records and stories from German Ridge.  The German Ridge Heritage Project is collaboration between Hoosier National Forest and Indiana University to document the lives and culture of early settlers in the Perry County community.

This project will include archival research, oral histories, cemetery studies, genealogy, and an archaeological excavation of one or more farmsteads.

Terry Lee and the Rockaboogie Band to perform 1950s, 1960s music at Lincoln Amphitheatre

A concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Indiana’s first national park will take place at Lincoln Amphitheatre.

A 1950s and 1960s genre cover band, Terry Lee and the Rockaboogie Band will perform on Saturday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. CDT in celebration of the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial’s 50th anniversary of becoming a national park.

Tickets are $10 a person plus a $1 per ticket gate fee charge. The concert will take place at the 1500-seat, covered Lincoln Amphitheatre located inside Lincoln State Park,  across the street from the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial.
