Wine tasting at Christmas Lake

Christmas Lake Golf Course is featuring a Wine Tasting Event on Saturday, Dec. 10 from noon to 5:00 p.m. CST.  The event will feature five local Indiana wineries and will be held at the Christmas Lake Club House.  There are a number of other events in Santa Claus that day including a parade at 1:00 CST.

Linoln Ferry Park is located just west of Troy, Indiana on Highway 66.

It's one of the smallest Abe Lincoln historic stops along the Ohio River and unless you're paying close attention, you can drive by it without even realizing it's there.

According to documents, the Lincoln family arrived by Ferry from Kentucky in 1816. It is said that Lincoln walked the woods at this location  It is also said that this is where Lincoln borrowed his first books and acquired his love for reading.

Aldo Leopold was a founder of wilderness conservation and environmental ethics.  The first full-length, high definition documentary film ever made about this legendary conservationist’s life will be shown in Tell City, free to the public.  Greenfire – Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time will be on the screen at Schergens Center at 1140 31st Street in Tell City on Thursday, November 17 at 6:00 PM.

Off to state finals for Heritage Hills band

Congratulations to the Heritage Hills Marching Patriots, who earned a berth at this weekend's state marching band competition.

A strong performance at semi-state was just the ticket.  Now, they're one of just seven teams from the 14 News viewing area that will perform at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday.

The Patriots are scheduled to play the big stage in Indy at 6:14 p.m., competing in Class C.
