Blue Bridge walk event to return in September

The City of Owensboro is bringing back Bridge Day Saturday, September 8.

The second annual opportunity to walk the Blue Bridge will take place in conjunction with the East Bridge Arts Festival in downtown Owensboro presented by Studio Slant.

Last year, thousands of walkers and bike riders took advantage of an opportunity to stroll across the bridge between Spencer County, IN and Owensboro.  The bridge is normally closed to foot traffic.  That event took place after a three-month deck rehab project was completed.

The festival includes dozens of artists from around the region in addition to live entertainment, kids’ activities, and food vendors.  The festival will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Street Chalking will be new to the 2012 event.

Anyone wanting to create their own masterpiece on the streets of downtown Owensboro can register with the festival to reserve their location to showcase their best street chalk art and compete for the People’s Choice Award.

The Blue Bridge will be closed from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for people enjoy a leisurely walk or bike while viewing the newly opened Smothers Park.  For more information about the East Bridge Arts Festival contact studioslant@gmail.com.
