Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center is sponsoring a community health screening through the “Choose 8 to Lose Weight” program. Screenings will be held at three different locations. The Huntingburg screening will be Thursday, October 27 from 5:30–7:00 a.m. at Salem United Church of Christ. The screening in Jasper will be Friday, October 28 from 5:30-9:00 a.m. at Memorial Southside Office. The Dale screening will be Monday, October 31 from 5:30–7:30 a.m. CT at St. Joseph Parish Center.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older and will have the following items checked: height and weight, BMI, body fat, blood pressure, cholesterol (including total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides) and blood glucose. A 12-hour fast is required for assessments requiring blood tests; however you may drink water and take prescribed medications.

The cost of the screening is $30. PSA (optional for men 50 and older or those with a risk for prostate cancer), Colon Cancer Screening Kits, and health risk assessments will be available for an additional fee. PSAs are $20, and Colon Cancer Screening Kits are $8. The cost of the optional health risk assessment is $22.

The screening lasts approximately 15 minutes, and pre-registration is required. To register for the screening or for more information, please visit Memorial Hospital’s website at: www.mhhcc.org and click on “Health Screenings” in the right-hand column. Enter the company name as either “Huntingburg Choose 8 Screening,” “Jasper Choose 8 Screening,” or “Dale Choose 8 Screening,” depending upon the location you will be completing your health screening, and enter “apple” as the password.
