1945 Dale High graduate gives gift to town | News
The Town of Dale was the recipient of a gift from the estate of a man who once lived there.
Dale Clerk-Treasurer Cindy Morrison says the town received a check for $50,625 from Lloyd Ranger, a graduate of Dale High School who passed away on Christmas Eve while living in Spokane, Washington.
According to his obituary, Ranger was born in Tennyson and graduated from Dale High School in 1945. His funeral was in Huntingburg and he was buried in Dale in early January. Ranger still has family in the area.
According to our media partner, the Spencer County Journal, the money has to go into the town’s general fund and city leaders can then decide what to do with it.
The check is an unrestricted donation, which means the money must go into the town’s general fund.
“A very generous and wonderful surprise,” said Morrison. “In my 12 years (as clerk-treasurer) this is the best news I’ve ever received.”
