Community throws benefit for teen firefighter battling cancer
PERRY CO, IN (WFIE)- Neighbors are rallying behind a young volunteer firefighter who's battling cancer.
19-year-old Zach Taylor is a volunteer with the Anderson Township Fire Department where his father's been Chief for about 20-years.
Taylor is currently in Memphis, TN. at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital being treated for two kinds of cancer.
Fellow firefighters say Taylor wants a career in law enforcement and loves to help people.
The benefit and auction for Zach is January 26th at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds. There will be chicken dinners, an auction, and Euchre tournament.
Chicken dinners started around noon and the auction begins at 2:00 p.m. The Euchre tourney and concessions begin at 6:00 p.m.
