Perry County could get drop box for payments | News
The Perry County clerk and treasurer’s offices will install a drop box for payments. County commissioners have approved the plan, which is aimed at making it easier for residents who are at work past the offices’ 4 p.m. closing time to make payments for court obligations including child support payments.
Our media partner, the Perry County News, reports that a date for the installation of the drop box isn’t set yet but could happen early next month.
It’s expected to cost about $1,400 and will be paid for through money in existing accounts.
“We’re asked often if we have a drop box,” said Perry County Clerk Jean Schulthise. “It’s something I think we need.”
Property taxpayers can currently make payments at banks – or take advantage of extended hours held at least once each spring and fall, but the drop box will increase convenience for many according to Schulthise and County Treasurer Judy Pund.
