Hundreds gathered at South Spencer High School for a public hearing on a proposed fertilizer plant. 

New Tell City event center now open

TELL CITY, IN (WFIE)- Tell City's new events center is now open.  

The Depot opened Saturday with hundreds showing up to hear live music in the Events Room and check out locally made items in The Depot's gift shop.

Tell City Councilman Chris Cail says The Depot will be a centerpiece for the community.

Graduates of Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology were awarded master's degrees on May 11. Graduates accepted their diplomas from the Rt. Rev. Justin DuVall, OSB, archabbot of Saint Meinrad Archabbey and chairman of the school's Board of Trustees.

The graduation address was given by the Most Rev. Patrick Pinder, archbishop of the Archdiocese of Nassau, Bahamas, an alumnus of Saint Meinrad.

Holiday World expanding water park

SANTA CLAUS, IN (WFIE)- A new season is just getting underway for Holiday World. Splashin' Safari opened over the weekend with a new ride: Hyena Falls.

Instead of being next to rides like the Mammoth and the Wilda Beast, Hyena Falls is next to Giraffica, or what used to be known as Pilgrims Plunge. That's because Splashin' Safari is expanding. The park has more than 90-acres of undeveloped land, and Hyena Falls is the first ride to be built in the new territory.

Cannelton man finds Civil War artifact while working in sewers

CANNELTON, IN (WFIE)- What appears to be an historic discovery in Cannelton is a Civil War artifact found deep underground.

It's unknown for sure, but it appears to be a relic from the Civil War and it has a lot of people around Cannelton talking.

Shawn Fulkerson can tell you, when you explore city sewers for a living, you never know what you'll run into.

"I've found soccer balls, concrete blocks, cell phones," says Fulkerson.

ISP still searching for suspects in pharmacy armed robbery

DALE, IN (WFIE)- The search continues for two suspects in a pharmacy hold-up in Dale, Indiana.

Police are looking for 26-year-old Jacob Beyers, and 27-year-old Mallory Anne Johnson, both of Mt. Vernon. The armed robbery happened Wednesday afternoon and no one was hurt.

Indiana State Police have released photos of the suspects. One shows Beyers leaning on a counter while talking to a pharmacist, another are of Johnson inside the store as well as her driver's license photo.

The pharmacy says this incident is a first for them.

SPENCER CO., IN (WFIE)- Spencer County investigators say they have identified the suspects involved in Wednesday's robbery of the Dale Pharmacy.

ISP says they are on the lookout for 26-year-old Jacob David Beyers and 27-year-old Mallory Anne Johnson of Mt. Vernon.

Police say Beyers walked into the Dale Pharmacy on North Washington Street around 4:00 p.m., displayed a handgun and demanded prescription medicine.

He then left the pharmacy in an unknown direction.
