Kathy Clayton new CFO of Fairfield Memorial Hospital

Fairfield (IL) Memorial Hospital has hired Kathy Clayton as the new Chief Financial Officer.  Clayton comes to Fairfield with 28 years of experience from a Critical Access Hospital facility at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City, IN.

“After 28 years in the same facility, I was ready for a change with new challenges.  I enjoy the hospitality of a small community and when I saw this opportunity present itself, I knew it would be the perfect place to transition to,” Clayton said.

Clayton has worked in many business areas of a hospital and began her career in Admitting, transferred to the Business Office, promoted to Staff Accountant, and continued to professionally advance to the Chief Financial Officer position.  During her tenure as part of the administrative team at Perry County Memorial Hospital, FMH says she assisted in planning a new $50 million hospital and lead the finalization of a $40 million loan for the facility.

Perry County Development Corporation names Alvin Evans as new president/CEO

 

The Perry County Development Corporation, Perry County’s economic development agency, has hired Alvin C Evans as its new President and Chief Executive Officer.

Evans was a founding board member and served as Chairman of the Board when the PCDC was formed in 1990 through 1998. He has remained a board member, Executive Committee member and an active sub-committee member since that time.

Chrisney Elementary teacher earns Peabody Leader award

 

Brittany Forler of Chrisney Elementary has been named a Peabody Energy Leader in Education for the 2012-13 school year, and awarded $1,000 for her compassion and commitment to students.

As a special education teacher, Forler believes that all students should be included in the classroom. She encourages her students to take every opportunity to learn, grow and reach personal goals. She was recently named lead teacher for her school, and in this role she guides and assists her colleagues when the principal is unavailable. Forler also promotes science, technology and math through programs including, Lego Robotics, VEX Robotics and Minds in Motion.

New Timber Management Assistant at Hoosier National Forest

 

Jason Combs is the new Timber Management Assistant for the Hoosier National Forest. Combs arrived on the Hoosier last week and has already been out planting American chestnut trees and becoming familiar with his new Forest.  He'll work out of the Tell City office.

Combs is from North Carolina and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management from Western Carolina University.  He comes to the Hoosier from  the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina.  He previously worked on the Ozark (Arkansas), Pisgah (North Carolina), and Kisatchie (Louisiana) National Forests.  His experience has varied from timber sale preparation to silviculturist (a specialist who manages trees).

Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) today congratulated John Hilgenhold on his acceptance into the United States Air Force Academy. Coats nominated Hilgenhold, a senior at Perry Central High School, for an appointment to Colorado Springs.

Indiana Department of Child Services appoints Perry County director

The Indiana Department of Child Services announced today Nancy Rennie has been appointed local director of the Perry County office of DCS. In her new role, Rennie will set goals and objectives for child welfare management helping to ensure children are protected from abuse or neglect. In addition, she’ll oversee a team of six that includes family case managers and clerical staff. She’ll also handle general office operations. 

“We’re very pleased Nancy will be managing day-to-day operations in our Perry County office,” said Dave Judkins, DCS’ Deputy Director of Field Operations. “Her practical job experience as both a family case manager and a supervisor will serve her well as she continues to help families in her county.”

Tell City woman wins $77,777 on scratch-off ticket

Joann Schroeder doesn’t really know why she bought a $5 7s Series Hoosier Lottery scratch-off ticket on a recent Sunday morning, but she’s very happy she did.

On the ticket Schroeder bought was a $77,777 top prize, which she claimed last week at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis.

“It just caught my eye. Usually I don’t buy $5 tickets, but for whatever reason, I bought this one,” said Schroeder, who purchased her lucky ticket at Gas & Stuff at 1046 North Luther Road in Georgetown.
