Public meeting planned to discuss burning in Hoosier National Forest

Staff on the Hoosier National Forest have scheduled several prescribed burns this fall and are hosting a public meeting to discuss their plans. The public meeting will be held at Perry Central High School Library on October 13 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. CT. The public is invited to the meeting to learn about the prescribed burn program on the Hoosier, including the areas proposed for fall burning.

Road work scheduled for Hoosier recreation areas

Hoosier National Forest officials announced that starting Monday, September 26, the Forest Service road accessing the Indian Lake boat ramp would be closed to all traffic. The road will be closed during weekdays for approximately two weeks while drainage problems are corrected.  The road should reopen by October 7.

Road to scenic overlook in National Forest re-opens after culvert repair

The Buzzard Roost Road is now reopened for public use after a culvert collapsed and had to be replaced. The road has been closed since mid July.
