Perry Central wins first sectional in 16 years; regional game time set

For the first time since 1997, the Perry Central Commodores are sectional champs.  Rallying from a seven-point halftime deficit Saturday night, Perry Central knocked off Mater Dei 56-54 at Huntingburg to advance in the IHSAA Class 2A tournament.

Perry Central held Mater Dei to 31.6 percent field-goal shooting in the second half to come away with the win.

It's just the third boys basketball sectional title in Perry Central’s 51-year history.  Their last trip to regionals came when current coach Matt Carter was a player on the team.

Perry Central will meet Switzerland County (17-4) at Huntingburg Saturday at 11 a.m. Eastern time in the regional.  The winner will play either Linton Stockton (20-3) or Clarksville (17-5) in Saturday night's championship.
