Bridge inspections set for this week | Transportation

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans joint walk-through inspections with the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Indiana Department of Transportation on a number of Ohio River bridges starting this week.  These inspections are to allow engineers to discuss future maintenance projects on shared river crossings.

These inspections will require traffic restrictions to accommodate the work on the follow schedule:

Thursday, August 9

KY 56/Illinois Route 13 Ohio River Bridge at Shawneetown at 1:00 p.m., CDT.  Estimated duration 3 hrs.

Friday, August 10

US 41 Twin Bridges (Ohio River) between Henderson & Evansville starting at 8:00 a.m., CDT.  This inspection will be done under lane restrictions for a detailed inspection scheduled for this week.

Monday, August 13

US 231 Ohio River Bridge (William Natcher Bridge) between Owensboro & Tell City starting at 9:30 a.m., CDT.  Estimated duration 3 hrs.

KY 2262/Indiana Route 161 Ohio River Bridge (Glover Cary Bridge) in downtown Owensboro starting at 1:00 p.m., CDT.  Estimated duration 3 hours.

Tuesday, August 14

KY 69 Ohio River Bridge (Bob Cummings-Lincoln Trail Bridge) between Hawesville and Cannelton starting at 8:30 a.m., CDT.  Estimated duration 3 hrs.

Motorists should be aware of these planned joint walk-through inspections of bridges and lane restrictions required to accommodate the work.  Caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and inspection personnel are on the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
