Sunset over Perry County

Sunset over Perry County

Thanks to Cathy Payne Daugherty for this fantastic photo of the sunset on Saturday night.

We escaped the severe weather that had been forecast earlier in the week but many areas picked up quite a bit of rain.

This week looks to be much calmer.  In fact, it'll be quite pleasant for at least the first half of the week, with temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Rainbow in Reo; more storms coming

Rainbow in Reo; more storms coming

Thanks to 14 News viewer William Jones for sending us this great photo of a big rainbow taken from South Spencer High.

We had rain this morning, a break this afternoon and expect to see more storms on Saturday.

Here's the latest from Jeff Lyons:

Warm, humid and unstable air is parked over the Tri-State at the moment.  This airmass will provide plenty of fuel for thunderstorms later tonight, with a more significant threat for severe storms on Saturday afternoon and evening.

Another great shot from our friend Jerry Aders.  This is the sunset over St. Meinrad. A beautiful start to what's shaping up to be a pretty nice end to the week/holiday weekend.

It's been non-stop clouds and a lot of rain since Friday night.  Byron Douglas says Tell City is among the Tri-State leaders in rainfall so far with 2 1/4" recorded.

It's another cloudy, cooler day today with highs expected in the mid-60s.

Warmer weather returns for Tuesday and the remainder of the week… and less rainy too.  We’ll have temperatures in the 70s for the rest of this week with a slight cool down by next Sunday.

Jeff updates expected rainfall; weekend forecast

14 News Chief Meteorologist Jeff Lyons says a cold front to our west will bring widespread moderate to heavy rainfall over the weekend.  Showers and a few imbedded thunderstorms will move into the Tri-State before midnight and will continue through Saturday and Sunday.

Total rainfall of 2-3" appears likely, and this may cause some localized flooding and also prolong flooding conditions along the Wabash and Little Wabash Rivers.

Weekend weather: Rain and plenty of it

Weekend weather: Rain and plenty of it

A series of weather systems will push through the Tri-State over the weekend.  We'll have periods of rain by Friday evening, and will continue with showers through Sunday.  Rain amounts will range around an inch north of the Ohio River to more than 2" south of the Ohio River in Western Kentucky.

Temperatures will hover in the 60's on Saturday and Sunday and then rise into the mid to upper 70's for much of next week.  More rain chances are on the horizon for Wednesday and Thursday.

Another soaking rain in the forecast

Perry and Spencer Counties could be in for another soaker.

Meteorologist Jeff Lyons says you can look for well over an inch of rain to fall between Tuesday and Wednesday.

We'll have periods of rain through early Wednesday morning, with gradual clearing on Wednesday afternoon.
